This came up in a recent social match. A player was standing at the net. His opponent hit a ball into the net causing the net pushing the net into the net player's paddle. The ball was clearly never going to clear the net, but according to  the rules, the point goes to the oppenent (18 k. last paragraph). However, an earlier paragraph of the same rule !*k) states

If the point has already been concluded it is not a violation to touch any of these fixtures (net, post, net crank etc.).

So when is a point "concluded"? Seems to me if you hit the ball into the net, the point is concluded. The rules do not back this up. Anyone care to clarify?

it is a bad rule but i think that the point has not been concluded until the ball hits the ground after not having gone over the net. Based on that assumption if the ball hits half way up the net and the net touches you because of that before the ball hits the ground then you lose the point.

The key point, tough, is that i think most sporting fellows would  not take the point under those circumstances. I know i wouldn't.

It is an interesting scenario. I think the point still needs to go against the team whose paddle touched the net seeing as the paddle touching the net could interfere with the natural continuation of the ball whatever its fate might have been.

Foolish Paddle rules for 200 hundred Alex

Being that you must call contact with the net on yourself, i would deny it til the bar.  Moreover, a legal paddle net should be tight enough that the net can't move towards your paddle.
