I would hope to see Punxatawny Phil making his awesome predictions for Short Hills this weekend.
Nice job in today's prediction of a prolonged winter. Have you ever NOT seen your shadow?
Looks like warm weather for Short Hills.
Let's hear it rodent.

Hear Ye Hear Ye
On Gobbler's Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009
Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators
Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper
And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time
And a bright sky above me
Showed my shadow beside me.
So 6 more weeks of winter it will be.

Thanks for the weather prediction Mr. Roker.
Congrats to Marino/Berka on winning the Illinois States. They beat Keevins/Uihlein in the semi's and Gamibno/Mansager in the finals.
Now to REAL tournaments.....The S.H.I.T. (Short Hills Invitational Tournament).
Keevins/Uihlein are on their way out here to nurse their wounds from Illinois States and try for another title. As usual, Goodspeed/Mansager are no shows due to the debacle when they were forced to play Gruenberg/Williams in the 1st round.
Good Luck to all....well...not all.

Nice try, but they played in the second round and won 6-3, 6-2. When was the last time you cried for years over a 6-3, 6-2 win. The two guys that shouold have been PO'd were Pete and Artie, but they handeled it like true NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! Just out of curiousity, will Goodspeed/Mansager skip Nations when there back in NJ?

All good points. It was a round of 32. Maybe the draw was 64 back then.
I don't think I've ever beaten anyone 6-3, 6-2.
Cried plenty of times after losing though....which is often.

If memory serves me, Scott Mansager was on the seeding committee that didn't see fit to seed or place Peter and Artie. I have never understood Goodspeed - Mansager's grudge against the Short Hills Invitational. As tournament chairman one year, I personally called Scott and asked him to consider coming back. Obviously, they have decided not to. Their choice, but it does seem petty.

Question: it seems that the same few teams always seem to be there in the end of these tournaments.
what makes them that much better than the rest?
are there any new up and coming players/teams to look out for?

They are better than the rest due to talent, experience/knowledge, patience and fitness. And, they wait to start drinking until they're knocked out of the main draw- unlike some others.
Parsons/O'Connor are an up & coming team. And Ray Ray's game seems to have elevated- plus, look out for him too as he's talking up wearing the Snuggie.

I think draws will be posted today.....not sure about semis being played saturday.....great idea for the viewers, but i think some of the participants might object to it.....

DO THE SEMI'S ON SATURDAY!!
I am looking forward to having a beer (or 2) and watching some great paddle!!
Keeps the good crowd there for the "hang".

The participants in the semis (8) will be far outnumbered by the fans (hundreds). At least let us watch one semi to keep the buzz & momentum going. Rumor swirling that the Snuggie is the "favor" at the S.H.I.T. - logoed w/ the SHC emblem.
