I have a pretty good scoop on all tennis players:

Let's see:

Caldwell: All-American at Chapel Hill and ATP Tour career high ranking #170 (16-Nov-98) in singles.
Jonason: played on the ATP Tour, career high ranking #784 (12-Jul-93).
Gambino: NCAA I college and a win over Sampras (and not in the 12s & under). Generally regarded as one of the all-time great NJ tennis players.
Bancila: #1 NCAA I college ball (Indiana I think) and was top 10 in the world 18 & under (ITF). Ranked in doubles on the ATP Tour (20-Mar-93). Heard he had some pretty impressive wins in singles and doubs.
Schmitt: #1 NCAA I college ball (maybe USC, out West anyway) and a career high ATP Tour ranking #492 (3-Apr-89).
Rothschild: NCAA I college ball at Notre Dame.
Parsons: #1 NCAA Top 10 in singles (NCAA).
English: NCAA I (Midwest)
Broderick: Connecticut

Additionally (info on them yet to transpire), the following players have solid tennis backgrounds:

Albrikes
Arraya (have you ever seen an Argentinian who is not a great tennis player?)
Durandt (tour)
Eberly (Ohio State, I think he's still enrolled)
Heil

OK so I was right...less than 1% of the people playing paddle don't have as good a resume as Matt Guyaux...and before anyone says anything, I know irrelevent. I like the "combined effort" in people pointing out who played where and did what. It was a curiosity question that others were using against him. I saw a couple people on there that fit into that <1% and Im sure theres more we don't know of too. Those players listed are all great players of course but not the point nor the numbers to > 1%. I believe O'Connor was Binghampton btw. I know of another All American with an equally impressive NCAA record but I'll see how good you guys are at research.
Anyway, bottom line in my opinion the act that Matt Guyaux(and apparently his wife too) did was wrong, bad, pick a negative term but it certainly doesn't deserve the attention it is getting because we all have a friend who's done something comparable. I totally agree he should apologize if he hasn't already.
Now I have another question, why doesn't the Northwest have the paddle following the Northeast has and the midwest is getting? Canada too? Is it the lack of country clubs?

Nah, Slice- I don't think you're right...even though I think you're making some good points.

1% in such a small sport- I think it is closer to 5% that have a similar/better tennis resume.  Caldwell, "Never Talk about Me Here", Gambino, Parsons, Schmitt, Jonasson.  Then there is the Jensen brothers.  Claes Westlin played at South Florida too.  I can go on & on...

Two-time national champion Brian Uihlein - All-American for University of Minnesota (1992).

Robert Janecek:  served on Canada's Davis Cup team from 1988-93; prolific collegiate player, earning three All-American selections in singles play while leading UCLA to a team indoor national championship in 1992. Two years later, he was ranked second nationally in singles play.  As a Bruin, Janecek also captured the 1993 doubles championship and earned the Pacific Coast Conference's freshman of the year award while serving as captain in his junior and senior seasons. The six-year ATP veteran climbed as high as 453rd in the world in singles play.

The Bank!?  Are you serious?  He has no tennis background, how can you even put him in the same sentence with those guys?  You're either high or joking.

Matt Guyaux, ATP Tour career-high singles ranking:  #765 (11-Sep-00).  Good for him but give it a rest, 700 and change is not that impressive for someone who played full-time.  That means he got about 10 ATP points, which furhter means he won a match in satellites about once every six days.  Yeah, really impressive.

Hey, Free Guyaux- you should reach out to him & just have him issue an apology.  You're right, everyone makes mistakes on the court.  Guy Moore put someone in the hospital not even looking.  Rick Summa used to stare at the screens after he hit a lob.  People kick the ball under the net to the server...it all happens.

An apology should clear all the smoke...

Then we can all move on.  Let's focus our energy on getting Dick Vitale off the air.

No you're right Smoke....forget apologies or rules obviously you get more done talking about it here. Keep up the good work - you're making a real difference.  Moving on....

not sure i follow, guyuax fan/free guyaux.  is this saracasm?  maybe you're too smart for me, you seem to know a lot.

on that note, i'd like to keep writing about what happened here in this forum.  so, lets move on to mrs. guyaux- the alleged "Yes, finally!" after hitting mrs lefevre.  completely appropriate....if you're 4 guys who always play together & have fun hitting each other.
