I hope I can assist in analyzing the coloration of tennis accomplishment to paddle prowess.  There has been much said about all the great tennis players that now play paddle.  What happens when we reverse the equation?

Please state the tennis accomplishments of todays top 10 teams (as per current rankings):

GOODSPEED-MANSAGER
BANCILA-EASTERBROOK
DEROSE-LUBOW
COCHRANE-ESTES
MARINO-STULAC
ENGLISH-HEIL
ROTHSCHILD-SCHMITT
BRODERICK-MOORE
O'CONNOR-PARSONS
BERKA-EBERLY

Albert,

Most great paddle players have a solid to great to outstanding tennis background.  Without comparing eras, David Caldwell is probably the best/most accomplished tennis player of all great paddle players - I am not willing to go back 30+ years when a Herb Fitzgibbon won a national title - different eras, different games, different everything.

I would group the current great paddle players in four categories:

1.  Great pro career on the ATP Tour (Caldwell)
2.  Great collegiate career (playing #1 or #2 NCAA I) and/or ITF and/or ATP Tour ranking (Uihlein, Bondurant, Bancila, Schmitt, Jonason, Parsons, Rothschild, English, Broderick, Estes,   Gambino, Albrikes, Eberly)
3.  Solid collegiate tennis player (Goodspeed, Ohlmuller, Easterbrook, etc.)
4.  Most interesting category:  great paddle players with little or no tennis background whatsoever:  Stulac, Cochrane, Cosimano, Mansager

It shows that a solid tennis background certainly helps your paddle game but it is not a must.  Racquet skills are very important but even more so are mental toughness, speed, endurance, patience, shot selection, confidence, and teamwork.

Binghampton?  That is D1?  There are girls at SUNY Binghampton?  What about Jim Kaufman- he played at Yale in the early 70's.  And how about Bob Kleinert- 2 sport standout at Princeton, hoops & tennis.  And that other Cochrane- heard he made the Vikings roster as QB.

Peter Luczak, highest ATP ranking 69, incurred the ONLY loss in his college career... Mark Parsons was the guy who defeat him

gotta check your stats on that one...it wasnt the ONLY loss of his entire college career...he was undefeated one year going into NCAA's...mark did in fact beat him...which has no relevance when it comes to paddle...Luczak went on to be 69, "coolest ranking ever", in the world,  mark went on the be posting on paddlepro.com....

Brat, you're kinda right... Technically, Luczak had another loss in his college career, where he withdrew due to an injury. However, I don't think you can count that as a legitimate loss. So please don't uderestimate Mark's tennis abilities! I know it has no relevance to paddle, it's rather a piece of tennis trivia. Also, 10 years ago, I beat David Nalbandian at Sunshine Cup (Junior World Cup) in Miami with the score of 6/2 6/0. He went on to become #3, while my highest was 240... but I took another head-to-head lead... I'm 1-0 at posting at paddlepro -very nice!!!

Did Gael Monfils learn that jumping two-handed backhand by watching Cochrane or Parsons on the paddle court?

I believe Mr. Parsons and Mr. Cochrane are very talented.

you dont look like a cold weather guy on tv, so your paddle (or padel??) cant be great..

Who in your mind is rightfully deserving of praise in the paddle world??

Mini Me doesn't know how to use proper grammar either. You should never start a sentence with "or." Just in case you didn't know, I get all my grammar facts from JUAN ARRAYA.

Do Tennis Players = Paddle Players
WHO CARES?!?!?!?!!&&!^!%!%!*!(!

How is that for a question mark?
