A Note from Vicki Sweeney
Hi Everyone,
Only a couple of more weeks until the end of the paddle season. Here are a few things I'd like you to make a note of.
1) The Spring paddle meeting is Wednesday, March 17th at Cincinnati Country Club in the Sports Building. The Board meeting is at 9:00 am. The Captains meeting is at 10:00 am. In honor of the holiday, we will be serving green beer * and shamrock cookies.
2) Due to the incredibly bad weather we have recently experienced, we are asking that any matches that needed to be rescheduled be complete before the last match day of your division.
3) Ladies Challenge matches are all held on Thursday, March 11 this year. Here are the rules of challenging:
CHALLENGE MATCHES
A. The challenged team is host (unless a traveling team).
B. The winning team in each division may challenge the last place team in the next higher division.
C. Challenges shall be issued by noon on Saturday following the last league match.
D. Challenge matches must be played on the date scheduled for challenge matches.
E. Players in challenge matches must have played in at least three regular matches.
F. Line–ups must be submitted to the Division Scorekeeper of GCPTA by noon the day before the challenge match to confirm that the players are legal and that the courts are playing in the order of ability.
And last, but definitely not least:
4) Lisa Price, Ann Turner and I would like your input about the possibility of the ladies going to 5 divisions for next season. Please discuss the options below with your team and let us know your opinions or suggestions before the March 17th meeting.
Option #1 - leave things as they currently are....with 4 divisions playing on Tuesdays and Thursdays - Divisions 2, 3, and 4 having an 18 week season and Division 1 with a 14 week season.
Option #2 - Having 5 divisions playing on Tuesdays and Thursdays - Divisions 1, 3, and 5 playing on Tuesdays, Divisions 2 and 4 playing on Thursdays, resulting in a possible increase of matches scheduled at 11:00 on those days. All divisions would have a 14 week season, with a few divisions playing only 12 matches and having 2 byes during that 14 week season.
Option #3 - Having 5 divisions, and most likely having the 5th division play on Wednesday mornings at 9:30. This would help to decrease the number of 11:00 matches on Tuesdays and Thursdays and all divisions would have a 14 week season, with a few divisions playing only 12 matches and having 2 byes during that 14 week season.
We would also like to know if any of the clubs are anticipating adding new ladies teams next year.
This is your opportunity to weigh in on this matter and I really want to hear what you are thinking. We want to make sure that we do what the majority of teams want.
Please email me back as to your thoughts on this. I would like to hear from every Ladies captain and all the Pro's prior to the March 17th meeting.
If you don't weigh in, no complaining after the decision is made. And I will keep track :-)
Your President (for one more month)

* Just kidding about the green beer. I just said that to get the guys attention. But I will see if CCC can scare up some iced shamrock cookies!
