The 50s and 60s Mixed Nationals, better known as the Mixed Masters was completed late Saturday afternoon at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. The overall high quality play by 31 teams in both draws ensured spectators and players alike to a most exciting platform tennis.
The top 2 two seeds in both national championships, played the finals; as top seeded Ken Persson (NJ) & Connie Jones (CT) bested Ivan Harlow (NJ) & Rayni Borinsky (NJ) in the 50s, 6-4, 6-2.
AND, second seeded Scott Estes (NJ) & Lousie Cash (NJ) prevailed against top seeds Bill Childs (VT) & Helen Garrett (Wash-DC) in the 60s, 7-5, 6-4.
This event was the return of the "mixed" nationals for to the Sleepy Hollow Country Club after some 25 years. Last mixed nationals at the club was the 1982 Lipton APTA Mixed Nationals. "We are very proud of the fine play, terrific camaraderie and the sportsmanship exhibited by all participants throughout the 2 days of paddle play" said Richard Lombard, the tournament's general chairman.
Early round action was also held at the town courts of Briacliff Manor and Sleepy Hollow.

Out of towners can stay at the club, if space is available.(cost $125.- per night). for beautiful antique decorated rooms.
The mansion is Stanford White designed architecture(one of his last works), commissioned to be built by Mrs Elliot F. Shepard in 1893.
