Jim's
Story:
Four years ago a few guys met for a St.Paddy's day refreshment
at Jim Brady's in NYC. Some wagering broke out which resulted
in the three getting their heads shaved bald and the proceeds
getting donated to the National Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Coining the name St.Baldrick's, the tradition continued and
last year raised over $2 million by shavees collecting donations
in exchange for "taking it all off" on St. Patrick's
Day. I did it last year and was astonished at the contributions
made by friends and was proud of my simple sacrifice to the
fight against childhood cancer.
This year, St Baldrick's offers "teams" the opportunity
to participate (compete) in this fundraiser. What better way
to promote team spirit than a bit of benevolent camaraderie.
LYC Paddle Team is entered and challenges our worthy counterparts
to offer up shavees and solicit funds for the NCCF (which
will be working with the press to cover this event). Teams
can register by calling Kathleen Ruddy(NCCF) at 800-458-6223(Ext.1642)
Please visit www.stbaldricks.org
to learn more about the event and gather on St.Paddy's Day
at Bradford's in Stamford, CT (or at any of the many locations
countrywide).
I look forward to seeing your team on the website.
Game on!
