Chris
Cochrane / Rusty
Wright
Fox Meadow Tennis Club Scarsdale, NY/ New York Athletic Club
/ Pelham NY
Chris
and Rusty have been playing for 5 years, but I'm sure it feels
like 10 when you play with Rusty. Chris gave up his dream
in the NFL to play on the Platform Tennis tour, which he says
is more fun. Chris loves the Cajun Ribeye at Smith & Wollensky's
or the Post House. When not playing paddle Chris enjoys playing
golf, tennis and spending time with his wife Suzan and 2 1/2
year old daughter Morgan.
Rusty
was recently wed at the home of platform tennis - Fox Meadow.
His new wife Daniella is also an avid paddle player. The wedding
consisted of cake, paddle, and dancing (at least until Rusty
tore his ACL on the dance floor) - TRUE. Rusty enjoys skeet-shooting,
croquet, and tennis in his spare time. |

Mike
Cochrane / Martin Sturgess
Fox Meadow Tennis Club Scarsdale NY / Fox Chapel Racquet Club
Pittsburgh PA
Mike
is a member of the Home Of Platform Tennis - Fox Meadow Tennis
Club. He lives in White Plains, NY (which some feel is a dump).
Mike is considered by some to be the Anna Kournikova of paddle
because he has never won a big tournament. Mike and Martin
have been playing paddle together only a few tournaments this
year and have a Semifinal in Rochester, and a quarterfinal
in Philadelphia and Connecticut. In Philadelphia, Gambino/Ohlmuller
were down a set to Mike and Martin when Martin Sturgess' hamstring
was hit by a sniper hired by Gambino and he went down hard.
If not for this incident Gambino/Ohlmuller would have surely
lost. Mike's accomplishments in paddle are limited to a few
semifinals in tournaments, but has claim to fame of puting
Bonderant/Fielder into retirement. Holds or tied 7 place-kicking
records at Cornell University. Was tied for 3rd in nation
in field goals per game in '91. Played professional baseball
in Independent Leagues for manager Paul Blair in '95. Mike's
favorite food is lobster. In his spare time he likes to play
golf, baseball, tennis, and spend time with wife Robin and
13 month old Emily.
Martin's
best paddle accomplishments are winning the 45 National's
with Steve Baird Martin has won over 20 APTA tournaments (mostly
in the Pittsburgh area). He is a 3-time NAIA ALL-American
in college. He also won the NAIA national doubles (Tennis).
Martin was in "faces in the crowd" Sports Illustrated for
a 76-0 dual match record in High School and college in tennis
(we think Martin just didn't report any of his losses). His
favorite food is Bacalhau. Martin loves to fish for great
white sharks and loves to travel. |
