Council votes to add second platform tennis court at Crescent Park in Sea Girt

SEA GIRT — The Sea Girt Borough Council voted unanimously on Aug. 11 to move forward with a project to construct a second platform tennis court in the existing Crescent Park racquet sports area.

Mike D’Altrui, chairman of the Sea Girt Recreation Commission said, “We’re excited to move forward with this initiative. Over the last few years we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the use of our recreational facilities, especially the usage of our paddle court. A second court will accommodate the growing popularity and demand for playing time we’ve seen from our residents.”

Now that the resolution has been approved, the paddle court goes into the design phase. Due to the location of the new court within a forested area, both the Sea Girt Shade Tree Commission and Sea Girt Conservancy were consulted on the project. Both groups have expressed their acceptance of the final proposed location and design.
