Save the date! The APTA
Mixed National Championship is back in the heart of paddle,
The metropolitan New York Area. The Spring Brook Country Club in
Morristown, NJ will be the site for the 67th National Mixed contest
and the first time it will returning to New Jersey since 1999. read

March 4, 5 & 6th,
2005 is the date and will include the Husband & Wife as well
as the Senior Husband/Wife national championship. These two events
will take place on Friday. Saturday will see play beginning in quest
for the National Mixed title. Sunday the semi-final and final matches
of the main draw as well as the remaining reprieves.
There is an open to the
public tailgate type party with free food and drink starting at
1 PM for the finals. Just before the finals a costumed playing exhibition
in 1940’s garb will take place to kick things off. The event
is drawing attention to the museum project currently underway at
Fox Meadow for a museum/Hall of Fame wing on the clubhouse.
Included in your entry
is a specially designed Claiborne outerwear jacket with zip off
sleeves and fleece lining. All the stops were pulled out on this
favor by a member donation from Spring Brook CC.
Everyone will get a minimum
3 matches and lunches and receptions on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sponsored by Morgan Stanley and Liz Claiborne, the event is sure
to attract a large draw.
Perennial number-one
David Ohlmuller and his sensational partner Susie Keene are the
team to beat. The Zink’s will have their hands full defending
the titles in both the Husband/Wife and the Open Championships.
Housing is available
for out of town guests and discounted hotel rate have been secured
by the Tournament Committees. The schedule of play will revolve
around the Morristown area clubs and will include Beacon Hill and
Canoe Brook just a 15 minute ride away.
A four color souvenirs
program will also highlight the event with ads and articles, as
well as an collection of paddle memorabilia that will be on display
to commemorate the museum effort. Bring your old paddles and donate
to the museum cause.

to 64 teams for the Open Mixed, 32 for the H/W and 16 for the Senior
H/W.
