This year’s tournament took place on October 23-24 at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale, NY, and attracted 47 teams. Also on the scene were a score of volunteers who coordinated the silent auction, raffle, Food Bazaar and Gift Court sales, and of course breakfast and lunch. A special feature of the day was a two-hour opportunity for chair massages, donated by Russ and Candace Borner. Major sponsorship support comes from Astoria Federal Savings Bank, Volvo Finance, and Alexander Hamilton Institute, as well as from Briarcliff Buss Company, Sleepy Hollow Women’s Paddle Association, C.S. McClellan Real Estate, Claire D. Leone Realty, Coldwell Banker, and Cardinal Resources.

Winners this year of the main draw were Marina Ohlmuller and Maria Manley, over Alice Mahoney and Mary Stichter, 6-2, 6-1. Conso was won by Lorraine Preziosi and Ginny Sniatkowski over Susan Del Rio and Lynn Molnar. Reprieve was won by default in a third-set tiebreaker by Carol Kimmelman and Sandra Reynolds over Wendy Day and Liz Perry; and Conso Reprieve winners were Kelly Newton and Mary Stanton over Kiffy Jacaruso and Cathy Lynn, 6-1, 6-3.

However, the big winner of the tournament was the Children’s Village’s Westchester Youth Services, which will receive more than $20,000 from tournament proceeds. Over its 22 years, the tournament has raised over $250,000!
