Allentown, PA
Now that the over-hyped Winter Classic is over (Bruin fans must have sent the officials Holiday Baskets! )let's move on to the the Lehigh Valley Classic. This will be the final National Ranking Tournament before Nationals. Back after a two year hiatus, the LVC has always been a battle ground for teams from Region I and III, and a final tune up for Nationals. It is notable as the first one day tournament, first National Ranking Tournament to use the Viking Ball and the first to have Internet sign up with Paddlepro. With past champions like Baird-Maier, Gruenberg-Williams Stipa-Zink, Ohlmuller-Gambino and Broderick-Ruppert (no not a misprint) this year's Lehigh Valley Classic will offer great competition and camaraderie. Located only an hour from Philadelphia and an hour and half from New York, this year's event will be held February 20. ~ Chip Morrow, Tournament Director

With deep sadness we acknowledge the death of Winnie Hatch. A service will be held later in the year to celebrate her life and spirit. Winnie was known throughout our sport as one of its greatest competitors, but also as one of its greatest advocates. Always one to give back to the game, she introduced literally hundreds of new players to platform tennis. A multi-time Senior champion, Winnie was willing to play with anyone in any event. Last February Winnie was honored with induction into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to direct them to the Hall of Fame. contribution details
