SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE JOY OF PLATFORM TENNIS
Submitted by Jacki Brown, BulletWorks Platform Tennis
Have you seen any articles recently on platform
tennis in your local daily? The weekly? On the six o'clock
news? Why not? Because press coverage requires a pitch. Before
the 75th anniversary season ends, consider making an effort
to get some local press.
Coverage leads to interest. Interest leads
to play. More players means more courts, more fun, more funding
and a brighter future for the sport. Doesn't your group, your
event or your kids deserve a little recognition?
The Platform
Tennis Promotion Committee has created a press kit to make
the job easy. Included in this kit are sheets on the history
of the game, the rules, the players, the businesses; even
copy-right free photos for members of the media to use.
All YOU
have to do is download
a kit and send it to your favorite paper or television station
along with a letter or a press release of local interest.
Personalize the story, add photos of your group if possible,
and back it up with the facts and figures on the sport included
in the kit. Chances are the story will run.
Features are anticipated in the Chicago Tribune
and the New York Times through current efforts of individuals.
Add to that, articles in dozens of local papers throughout
the country, and platform tennis will no longer be such a
mystery sport.
