It was January…holiday fun over, money gone, the blues knocking
at the door. Surprise, the New Jersey State Tournament had just
begun. Wow! What a blowout time it was, too. This was the 38th year
for this championship and it just may have been the best ever. Bobo
Delaney and John Milbank proved once again just how dynamic their
game is by defeating Marina Ohlmuller and Anthony Cosimano 6-4,

It was January…holiday
fun over, money gone, the blues knocking at the door. Surprise,
the New Jersey State Tournament had just begun. Wow! What a blowout
time it was, too. This was the 38th year for this championship and
it just may have been the best ever.
After facing
a challenge of diminishing draws and a date change, it seemed unclear
how January 8, 2005, would turn out. A fabulously strong draw of
64 teams materialized and absolutely all levels of play were represented.
The weather proved to be wet and menacing, but believe it or not,
only one team pulled out! Bad weather has a way of leveling the
playing field a bit while increasing the camaraderie factor. Everyone
looks bad and feels worse – how could we possibly be having
this much fun?
Great competition was had by all. Montclair Golf Club knows how
to organize a tournament, feed you silly and throw a wonderful party.
Sunday’s finals were terrific. Bobo Delaney and John Milbank
proved once again just how dynamic their game is by defeating Marina
Ohlmuller and Anthony Cosimano 6-4, 6-1 .
Warning! Quite
a few teams were disappointed to be closed out of this awesome event.
Next year, it’s January 7, 2006. Don’t miss it! Get
your applications in to avoid suffering a post-holiday funk.
