The top seeds won the Women's Open National Championship in 1989. The 2nd seeds came out of retirement to participate in this event. The Women's 50+ Nationals promised to be an interesting tournament! Each year, the Women's 70+ Nationals gains some players and loses others. The one constant has been Sharon Hummers, who has won the gold each year. What happened this year?
The weather was cold and the friendships warm. And the competition was fierce! Hope Kerr and Betty Michinard pulled off a feat that no one else has accomplished and defeated Sharon Hummers and Ann Mariani on the way to claiming the Women's 70+ National title.
The 50+ title was claimed by Bobo Delaney and Sarah Krieger, who battled Donna Charlton and Janet Faig for the gold.
Other winners are:
Lovejoy - Shaw
Dyminski - Nagy
Klingner - Sturgis
Hummers - Mariani
Friedlander - Genereaux
Milligan - Herold
Once again, Judy Luskin and Ann Brown staged a wonderful event!
