Montgomery and Darling win Lagunitas Men's Open

Michael Cochrane - Nov 17th 2021

Huntley Montgomery and Thomas Darling had to beat two strong teams to win the 2021 Lagunitas Men's Open, including the host clubs pro Sebastian Bredberg and his partner Hugh Klein in the finals. The upset of the tournament came in the quarter finals when Peter Lardner and his 14-year old son Tom, beat the #1 seeds Cochrane and Ward 6-0, 6-1. Cochrane was heard saying after the beatdown, "He does turn 15 next month though."

Perfect paddle weather was enjoyed by the 14-team draw, in Ross, CA just north of the Golden Gate Bridge outside of San Francisco. Montgomery and Darling had to beat the strong local team of Will Lyon and Tom Mayes in a long 3-setter in the quarter finals.
